His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in religion and psychology from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, a Master's Degree in Education with a focus on counseling and pastoral psychology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and a Doctorate in Christian Counseling from Christian Bible College and Seminary in Blue Springs, MO.

In 1999, Dr. Thompson assumed the role of Chairman of the Evangelism and Church Planting Divisions of the North American Mission Board, maintaining this executive-level Trustee position for a decade. During this time, he provided direct oversight to a multitude of chaplains under NAMB's guidance. His commitment to chaplaincy and counseling dates back to the early 1990s, serving as the Chaplain for the Hawkins County Sheriff's Department and Mt. Carmel Police Department in the Tri-Cities.

Continuing his chaplain ministry, Dr. Thompson served as a corporate chaplain for the "Lee Company" in Franklin and the "Coca-Cola Company" in Nashville, Tennessee, partnering with Corporate Chaplains of America. A member of the American Association of Christian Counselors since 1992, he embraced the role of Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Carthage, Tennessee, later founding and leading North Pointe Community Church from 1999 to 2014. For Dr. Thompson, counseling serves as a means to facilitate a holistic transformation of body, mind, and spirit. This transformation transpires when individuals embrace authentic transparency and accountability within the context of pure counsel from a qualified professional.

Residing in middle Tennessee with his wife Marie and their three grown sons, three grown daughters, and six grandsons, Dr. Thompson is recognized as a steadfast professional, channeling healing and hope at the highest spiritual level. Clients have testified to his role in breaking strongholds and overcoming oppression, acknowledging the profound impact of his counseling in dealing with life's most challenging traumas.

Meet Pastoral Counselor, Phil Heiser, a compassionate man with a heart rooted in Christian values. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of Olympia, Washington, Phil's journey led him to Murfreesboro in 2021, where he initially joined Dave Ramsey's team at Ramsey Solutions. However, Phil felt a divine nudge, a calling to walk alongside individuals and couples facing life's challenges, especially those feeling "beautifully broken." Following this calling, he transitioned from his role at Ramsey Solutions to become a Pastoral Counselor at Beautifully Broken Counseling. Here, he offers guidance steeped in a Christian worldview, aiming to bring healing and restoration to those in need.

Family is at the center of Phil's life, as he cherishes his nearly 29-year marriage to Wendy and delights in their two young adult children. Together, they find joy in exploring the country in their travel trailer, supporting their beloved Washington State Cougars, and sharing a love for baseball.

Known for his genuine curiosity in people, Phil welcomes individuals facing career challenges, relational struggles, financial hardships, or other life obstacles to journey alongside him.
